By the late 60’s being a privateer in Formula 1 was becoming very difficult, still, Moser soldiered on for quite a few seasons. He did really well in Formula Junior and 3, which encourage him to go a step up, and put together a Formula 2 programme. He entered the F2 section of the German GP in 1966, but his engine failed in practice. In 1967, he entered a very optimistic ATS engined Copper in the British GP, which led to retirement. For 1968, Moser had a Repco Brabham, which he used to contest four GPs, earning his first points, having finished 5th in Holland. For 1969 he fielded cars under the proud  name Silvio Moser Racing Team, starting 7 races and finishing 6th in the USA GP, earning another point. In 1970 he decided to commission his own car from Bellasi, and that, in hindsight, was a mistake. He failed to qualify consistently, as a matter of fact qualifying only in Austria. The Bellasi made one final appearance, in the Italian GP of 1971, which ended in retirement. For 1974 intended to field a Brabham BT42, but death caught up with him at the 1000 km of Monza: he had severe internal and head injuries, from which he never recovered, and died.
